WHAT’S THIS?

A beaver in the Ouse Valley? Well, not yet! But not far away. In fact in Rushden Lakes, just off the River Nene near Peterborough, released recently by our local Wildlife Trust. At a fascinating talk by the Trust we learned that among the first family to be introduced is Boudica, the Warrior Queen, so named as she lost a foreleg in a skirmish – but she can still manoeuvre a handy sized willow branch around to help construct their first lodge. And, the first kits have appeared! So, not a genuine sighting (yet) for the Great Ouse, but to arrange to see one on the Nene Wetlands visit wildlifebcn.org
