JOIN US AGAIN TO CELEBRATE OUR GREAT OUSE VALLEY WAY FOOTPATH ON OUR NEW WOW! DAY

SUNDAY 12 JULY 2026

WOW! is free. It is NOT competitive. Nor is it a single organised event. It’s simply a fun day out that you can organize to suit yourself.

You don’t have to walk the whole 26.2 miles! But if you do fancy that challenge – maybe with some friends or perhaps in a relay – why not get yourselves sponsored and raise money for your favourite charity? Or you might prefer a shorter stretch and amble along with your family and a picnic, or choose a circular route and arrive back where you started.

HOW IS IT ORGANISED?

As last year, there will be nine Hubs along the route, with information, facilities and sometimes tea and cake. The schematic map below shows the distances between the Hubs to help plan your walk.

We’d be grateful if you would sign in with your first Hub manager so we can monitor numbers this year, and also if you would leave your email address and tick the box to agree for us to keep in touch with you for all other GOVT activities. Thank you.

Our Hub pages below give more details of the exact location of each with links to maps you can download to your phone.

HUNTS RAMBLERS TEAM UP WITH WOW!

We are delighted that the Huntingdonshire Ramblers group has joined our WOW! subgroup this year. We welcome their expertise in offering our WOW! walkers a collection of circular walks with related GPX files. They can be viewed within their website via this link or downloaded to a suitable device.

FINALLY

We are still busy with our plans to make WOW! a wonderful day for everyone to enjoy. For now please save the date and expect regular updates here and on our Facebook pages. We will look forward to seeing you!

WOW! DAY ADVICE FOR WALKERS

  • Use suitable footwear, wear a hat, cover up and use sunscreen. Take water or pick it up at the Hubs
  • We have made every possible effort to ensure to path is clear on the day, but we nevertheless recommend long trousers to avoid nettle stings – especially for children!
  • Please keep your dog on a lead and  your young children in sight at all times, and especially when the path is close to the river
  • Take a first-aid kit in case of insect bites and/or stings and abrasions from nettles, brambles, blackthorn or hawthorn
  • Do not tackle any unexpected obstructions which have made the path difficult to navigate – and do let us know where they are!
  • Please follow the Countryside Code and walk slowly round stray cows!
  • Don’t worry about getting lost: there are informative route information boards along the way, and plenty of maps here you can download from the Hub pages
